Disturbing new details have surfaced in a civil lawsuit filed against Cornell University over the alleged drugging and sexual assault of a woman at a fraternity house on the Ivy League campus. The lawsuit, lodged on 16 September, has brought renewed scrutiny to how the university handled the matter.

Among the evidence cited in the case are exchanges on Snapchat and text messages described as deeply troubling, including a message reading "Shop still open?" The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, told a Cornell hearing in 2025 that she felt exploited during the ordeal, saying: "I felt like bait."

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has called for an independent external review of the university's response, stating that the case raised "serious questions about Cornell campus culture." The lawsuit has intensified pressure on university administrators to account for how allegations of this nature are investigated and addressed on campus.
