MoD signs ₹811 crore deal for 160 SAT-SAAW glide bombs for Indian Air Force
The contract, concluded in New Delhi, falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, boosting domestically developed precision air-launched munitions.
The Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹811 crore contract for the procurement of 160 SAT-SAAW glide bombs for the Indian Air Force, marking a significant addition to the country's indigenously developed aerial strike capabilities.
The agreement was concluded in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. The contract was placed under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, reflecting the government's continued push to source advanced military hardware from domestic producers.
The SAT-SAAW, a stand-off air-to-ground weapon, is designed to engage hardened targets from a safe distance, enhancing the IAF's precision strike options without exposing aircraft to close-range threats.
