Bakari steps up as new silverback gorilla at Disney's Animal Kingdom

A gorilla named Bakari has taken on the role of silverback at Disney's Animal Kingdom, becoming the troop's new dominant male. The transition represents a notable development for the park's gorilla family and those who care for them.

Dr. Natalie Mylniczenko, a wildlife veterinarian at the park, has been monitoring Bakari's health and adjustment to his new responsibilities. She noted that his physical condition and behaviour are being closely observed as he settles into the demanding role of troop leader.
