Beijing analyst dismisses Manila's claim that Japan boundary talks have no China dimension

A Chinese analyst has rejected Manila's position that ongoing maritime boundary negotiations between the Philippines and Japan have nothing to do with China, warning that the talks carry broader strategic implications.

The Philippine foreign minister had argued that the delimitation process was a straightforward bilateral matter between Manila and Tokyo. The Beijing-based expert disputed that characterisation, contending that such negotiations serve purposes that extend well beyond a simple two-country arrangement.

The analyst warned that the move was designed with ulterior motives in mind, suggesting the talks could affect China's interests in the region despite official assurances to the contrary.
