China rolls out new national train timetable from 1 July
The updated schedule introduces a high-speed rail connection between the capital Beijing and the far-western city of Urumqi.
China will bring a revised national railway timetable into effect on 1 July, with the introduction of a high-speed train service linking Beijing to Urumqi among the headline changes.
The new Beijing-Urumqi route represents a significant expansion of the country's high-speed network, connecting the national capital to the capital of the Xinjiang region in China's far west.
The updated timetable signals a broader effort to extend fast rail connectivity across the country's vast interior, bringing remote western regions closer to the economic heartland of the east.
