CPCL chief charts renewable energy path with CBG and sustainable aviation fuel

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited is positioning itself to participate in India's growing renewable energy sector, with Managing Director H. Shankar identifying compressed bio-gas and sustainable aviation fuel as key areas for future investment.

Shankar highlighted CBG as a promising fuel alternative that the company could back, while also pointing to sustainable aviation fuel as a means of contributing to greener practices within the aviation industry.

"CBG is fuel that can be a good form of energy we can invest in," Shankar said. "With SAF, we can be a part of sustainability in aviation fuel." The comments signal a strategic shift for the Navratna-rated refiner as it looks beyond conventional petroleum operations toward cleaner energy solutions.
