Pakistan strikes 10 targets inside Afghanistan after drone incursions

Pakistan launched strikes against ten sites inside Afghanistan on Wednesday after officials said security forces had intercepted eight rudimentary drones allegedly sent by the Afghan Taliban toward Pakistani population centres.

According to Pakistani officials, the unmanned aircraft were neutralised before they could reach the northwestern city of Kohat and the border town of Torkham, two significant settlements in the country's volatile frontier region.

The strikes mark a sharp escalation in tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, where the Taliban government has ruled since 2021. Relations between the two neighbours have deteriorated steadily over cross-border militancy and repeated disputes along their shared border.
