Prices of commercial LPG cylinders were raised with effect from October 1, adding to costs for hotels, restaurants and other businesses that rely on the fuel at the start of the festive season. The 19-kg cylinder became more expensive by up to Rs 71.50 depending on the city, with the increase varying across locations.

In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder climbed by Rs 62.50 to reach Rs 2,810. Similar upward revisions were applied in other major cities including Mumbai, Chennai and Bhopal, though the exact quantum of the hike differed by location.

Households, however, will not feel the pinch from this round of price adjustments. The 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, used by millions of Indian families for cooking, has been left unchanged. The revision affects only the commercial segment, which operates on a market-linked pricing mechanism that is reviewed periodically by state-run oil marketing companies.
