Indian seaman killed as cargo ship struck off Oman coast in 11th West Asia attack

An Indian seaman has been killed after the cargo vessel MV Cape Dao was struck off the coast of Oman, marking the eleventh incident involving ships in the region since the West Asia crisis escalated.

The vessel was carrying a crew of 28, of whom 20 were Indian nationals, at the time of the attack. The ship was travelling from the United Arab Emirates to India via Omani waters when it came under assault.

The incident underscores the growing danger facing merchant mariners navigating the waters of the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman, a vital corridor for trade between South Asia and the Middle East.
