Kerala CM defends use of private chartered aircraft for flood relief visit

Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Wednesday defended his decision to travel to Kozhikode aboard a private individual's chartered aircraft to meet the families of flood victims, insisting that the state government had not spent any public money on the trip.
Satheesan maintained that because no cost had been borne by the state exchequer, his use of the privately owned aircraft was entirely justified. The visit was aimed at personally reaching out to the kin of those affected by the flooding in the region.
The chief minister's remarks came amid scrutiny over the manner of his travel during what was framed as a humanitarian mission to express solidarity with grieving families.
