SIT formed to probe corruption allegations against Pinarayi Vijayan and family
Kerala's Crime Branch will investigate graft claims against the opposition leader, his daughter and son-in-law in the CMRL-Exalogic case.
Kerala Police on Wednesday ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team under its Crime Branch wing to examine corruption and bribery allegations against Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan and two of his family members.
The probe will also cover Vijayan's daughter Veena T and his son-in-law PA Mohammed Riyas, a CPI(M) MLA. The SIT was constituted on the basis of a report filed by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic case.
The development marks a significant escalation in the legal scrutiny facing the former chief minister and his family, with the Crime Branch now formally empowered to investigate the allegations.
