India dismisses OIC communique on Kashmir, says bloc has 'no locus standi'

India has rejected a reference to Jammu and Kashmir contained in a communique issued by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, asserting that the grouping has no standing to comment on what New Delhi regards as an internal matter.

The Indian government stated that the OIC has no locus standi to make any mention of Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating its long-held position that the territory is an integral part of the country and that outside bodies have no basis to intervene or pass comment.

New Delhi has consistently opposed any attempt by international forums or foreign governments to raise the Kashmir issue, viewing such references as an infringement on Indian sovereignty.
