India dismisses OIC mention of Kashmir, says bloc has no standing on issue

India has rejected a reference to Jammu and Kashmir contained in a communique issued by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, asserting that the grouping has absolutely no locus standi to comment on matters that constitute an integral part of Indian territory.

New Delhi made clear that Jammu and Kashmir is, and has always been, an inalienable part of India, and that any references to the region in resolutions or statements issued by the OIC are entirely unacceptable and carry no weight with the Indian government.

India has consistently opposed attempts by external bodies to raise the Kashmir issue on international platforms, maintaining that the matter is strictly a bilateral and internal affair.
