Supreme Court challenges Patna HC ruling that assault on girl at photo studio did not constitute rape

The Supreme Court has raised strong objections to a Patna High Court ruling that found a photographer's act of removing a girl's salwar and pressing her chest did not constitute rape, in a case dating back to 2008.
The incident occurred when the victim visited a photography studio with her father to have a picture taken, during which she was assaulted by the photographer.
The Supreme Court's intervention signals serious concern over the High Court's interpretation of the law in the case, and the matter is now under scrutiny at the highest judicial level in the country.
