TMC tells Lok Sabha Secretariat to bar rebel MPs from parliamentary committees

The Trinamool Congress has formally written to the Lok Sabha Secretariat urging it not to nominate rebel party MPs to any parliamentary committees, escalating its confrontation with the defectors.

Party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee argued that the MPs in question, who have switched allegiance to the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, no longer represent the TMC and should therefore have no place on panels to which the party holds entitlement.

The move signals that the TMC intends to use every institutional mechanism available to isolate the breakaway legislators and limit their influence within Parliament.
