BJP spent Rs 529 crore in last election cycle, with over half directed at West Bengal

The Bharatiya Janata Party spent Rs 529 crore during its last election cycle, with roughly 54 per cent of that sum — nearly Rs 286 crore — concentrated in West Bengal alone, according to newly available expenditure data.

The disproportionate allocation highlights how heavily the party has invested in breaking through in a state long dominated by the Trinamool Congress. Bengal has emerged as one of the BJP's most contested and expensive political battlegrounds in recent years.

The remaining funds were spread across other states, suggesting the party's central campaign machinery made Bengal its single largest financial priority during the period under review.
