Goyal courts US business leaders in push to deepen India investment ties
Commerce Minister holds talks with top executives from IBM, MetLife, Blackstone and others during a visit aimed at boosting bilateral investment.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has held a series of meetings with senior American business leaders during a visit to the United States, pitching India as a premier destination for foreign investment at a time when the two countries are navigating trade negotiations and tariff-related tensions.
Goyal met executives from a range of prominent firms, including IBM, whose chief is Arvind Krishna, as well as Michael A Khalaf of MetLife, and representatives from Blackstone, AIA Group, General Atlantic and Estée Lauder. The meetings were aimed at encouraging deeper commercial engagement between the two economies.
The outreach comes as India and the United States work through ongoing discussions over trade terms, with tariffs emerging as a key point of friction. By engaging directly with influential corporate figures, Goyal sought to reinforce confidence in India's business environment and signal the country's openness to expanded American investment across sectors.
