Congress leaders trade slaps at Faridabad vote-theft protest
A demonstration against the Chief Election Commissioner descended into violence when two Congress figures came to blows in front of party colleagues.
A Congress protest rally in Faridabad collapsed into chaos when two party leaders, Parag Sharma and Gajna Lamba, exchanged slaps in front of assembled supporters and fellow politicians. The altercation was captured on video and circulated widely, causing embarrassment for the party.
Sharma was seen striking Lamba first, with Lamba retaliating immediately. Congress District president Baljit Kaushik was among those who rushed in to separate the two men as the confrontation escalated.
The march had been organised under the banner of the INDIA bloc, proceeding through Old Faridabad from Chandi Wali Dharamshala to Pathwari Mandir. It was led by the Haryana Mahila Congress president and aimed at protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged vote theft.
A complaint was reported to have been filed at a local police station following the incident. The brawl drew sharp attention to internal divisions within the party at a rally intended to project unified opposition.
