Deep depression makes landfall as Odisha and Andhra Pradesh placed on red alert

A deep depression began making landfall on Tuesday, with meteorological authorities warning that the process would continue for approximately two hours. Both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have been placed on red alert as the system moves ashore, bringing the threat of heavy rainfall and strong winds to coastal communities.

Following landfall, the weather department said the depression is expected to track northwestward while maintaining its current intensity for the next 12 hours. It is then forecast to weaken gradually over the subsequent 24 hours, offering some relief to the affected states as the system loses its strength over land.
