The Central government has approved the procurement of three major kharif crops grown in Karnataka at minimum support prices, providing a significant cushion to farmers in the state for the 2026-27 season.

Under the approved proposal, 1,15,500 metric tonnes of soyabean, 38,250 metric tonnes of green gram and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower will be purchased at their respective minimum support prices.

The move is expected to protect farmers from distress selling in open markets where prices can fall sharply after harvest, ensuring they receive a guaranteed return on their produce.
